A woman shoots her husband and never speaks again. A therapist becomes obsessed with making her talk. The setup is simple and the execution is flawless. I thought I was reading a straightforward psychological thriller and then that ending hits you like a truck. I immediately went back and reread the first three chapters with new eyes and EVERYTHING was right there. Michaelides is diabolical. Best thriller twist since Gone Girl.
