The Serpent & the Wings of Night surprised me — I expected standard romantasy and got a genuinely compelling tournament arc with vampires. Oraya's refusal to be a victim despite being the only human in a vampire kingdom is the kind of heroine energy I live for. The Kejari trials are creative and brutal, and the slow burn with Raihn actually works because Broadbent earns the trust between them page by page.
