Listening to this on my commute was an experience — Westover's voice (through the narrator) is so measured when describing the most extreme circumstances. Growing up with survivalist parents who distrusted education, hospitals, the government — and then clawing her way to Cambridge. The scene where she sees the Holocaust in a textbook for the first time broke something in me. This isn't a story about education. It's a story about the courage to see yourself clearly. Best audiobook I've ever listened to.
