Lights Out

This one just wasn’t for me. I went into it expecting a dark romance with a strong story behind it, but I ended up feeling like there really wasn’t enough plot to keep me interested.

There were some funny moments and I liked the concept of the masked, obsessive MMC, which should have been completely up my street, but I never became properly invested in either the characters or their relationship. I kept waiting for the story to give me something more to care about and it just never really happened.

I think my biggest problem was that it had a lot of the ingredients I usually love in dark romance, but without the emotional intensity or gripping storyline that makes those elements work for me. The darker and sexual moments don’t really do much for me on their own if I’m not obsessed with what’s happening outside of them.

Unfortunately, by the end I was mostly just glad I’d finished it. Definitely not one I’d reread.
