Haunting Adeline

I absolutely loved this book. This was the book that made me realise exactly what I want from dark romance. I loved Zade’s obsession with Adeline, the stalking, the possessiveness and the fact that he is completely unapologetic about how obsessed with her he is. He’s dangerous and morally fucked up, but then there’s this completely different side of him when it comes to her.

I also loved Adeline because she actually pushes back. She’s scared of Zade and knows she should want absolutely nothing to do with him, but there’s still that attraction and curiosity pulling her towards him. Their whole dynamic is completely toxic and unhinged, which is exactly why I found it so addictive. 😂

What really made this a 5 star for me though was that there was an actual story outside of the romance. I was invested in Zade’s darker work, the mystery surrounding the house and Addie’s family history, and everything happening in the background. It gave me something to care about beyond just waiting for the next Zade and Addie scene.

Definitely not a romance for everyone and the content warnings should absolutely be taken seriously, but for me this completely hit the mark. Dark, obsessive, disturbing and ridiculously addictive.
