I absolutely loved this. I went into Fourth Wing not really knowing whether fantasy was going to be my thing, and somehow ended up completely obsessed with dragons. 😂

Violet was one of my favourite things about the book. She’s thrown into a world where she’s physically at a disadvantage and everyone expects her to either fail or die, but instead of suddenly becoming ridiculously powerful, she learns how to survive by being clever. I loved watching her prove everyone wrong.

And the dragons!! Tairn and Andarna completely stole the book for me. I loved their personalities, the bond between dragons and riders and especially the conversations they can have mentally. I genuinely became just as attached to the dragons as I did to the human characters. 😂🐉

Obviously I loved Xaden too. 👀 The tension between him and Violet, the enemies-to-lovers element and the fact that I was never completely sure how much she could trust him kept me invested in their relationship without the romance taking over the entire story.

My only reason for not giving it a full 5 stars was that some of the world-building took me a little while to get into. I’m definitely more of a story-led reader than someone who wants pages of fantasy lore, but once everything got going, I was completely hooked.

The ending absolutely got me and made me want to go straight into Iron Flame. Considering I wasn’t even sure this type of fantasy would be for me, 4.5 stars and a newly discovered dragon obsession isn’t bad.
