I really enjoyed the concept of this book. The dark, eerie mystery pulled me in almost immediately, and while I was reading I completely lost track of time. I loved the almost murder-documentary feel of gradually piecing together what happened and seeing things from different perspectives. It constantly made me want to keep reading because I needed answers.
Where it fell slightly short for me was the depth. It had all the ingredients for something that could have really got under my skin, but I wanted more tension, intensity and emotional impact from it. I was hooked on finding out the truth while I was reading, but once I’d finished, it didn’t stay with me in the way my favourite darker books usually do.
Still, I had a really good time reading it and the mystery definitely kept me turning the pages. I just wish it had pushed the darker and more emotional elements a little further.
