A Court of Thorns and Roses

This one just wasn’t really my cup of tea. I didn’t hate it, but I spent most of the book waiting for it to properly grab me and it never quite did.

I think a big part of it was the fae-heavy fantasy world. It felt a little too fluffy for my taste, and I struggled to become properly invested in the world or the characters. There were parts I enjoyed and enough happening to make me want to finish it, but I never reached that point where I couldn’t put it down.

The romance didn’t really work for me either. I wasn’t particularly invested in Feyre and Tamlin, and after Fire Night especially, Tamlin was giving me the ick rather than making me more interested in him. 😭 I kept waiting for the romance to become something I’d obsess over, but it just didn’t happen.

I can understand why this series has such a huge fanbase, and there were definitely glimpses of things I liked, but compared with fantasy books like Fourth Wing, it just didn’t have the darker, more intense feeling that keeps me hooked.

2.5 stars. Not terrible, just very much not my cup of tea.
