Everyone told me to keep going after A Court of Thorns and Roses because the second book was apparently where the series got really good, so I did… and unfortunately I liked this one even less. 😭
I really tried to get into it, especially because there were elements that sounded like they should have worked better for me, but I just wasn’t invested. The world still didn’t particularly interest me, I struggled with the amount of fae-focused fantasy, and I found myself reading because I wanted to see if it would eventually click rather than because I was actually excited to pick it back up.
I did prefer Rhysand as a character and love interest to Tamlin, but even that wasn’t enough to make me care about the romance as much as I wanted to. I also wasn’t particularly sold on the transition between the relationships, so instead of becoming more invested as the story went on, I actually found myself losing interest.
I know this series is absolutely loved and I can understand that I’m probably just not its target reader, but after giving the first book 2.5 stars and this one 2 stars, I’ve decided there’s no point forcing myself through the rest of the series hoping I’ll suddenly fall in love with it.
Definitely just not the fantasy series for me.
