I was kinda scared when I saw people saying that Alex Aster wasn't a good writer for this book. I certainly had some expectations. Throughout my journey, I actually thought I'd like it *less*, but the ending - when Barbie saves the day - made it up for it.
Could it have been better? Yes. Is it bad? No. Though I *would* say that Alex Aster could *definitely* improve her writing, specially in the "show, don't tell" aspect.
Barbie Dreamscape is a light read and safe for work reading. Would recommend if you want a simple read where there's not really heavy themes, or if you want something light and simple by the end of the day. *Also* would recommend to young readers who are shifting from "kids books" (few pages, with images) to "adult" books (many pages with just words).
