I want to thank Saffron A. Kent, Little Brown Book Group and NetGalley. Here my honest review.
“Love is an adventure. It has highs and lows. It scares you. It makes you feel safe. It's reckless and thoughtful. It's the biggest contradiction there is. Love is you. Because you're the biggest contradiction of my life."
Branded is the second novel by Saffron A. Kent that I have read, and once again I was more than satisfied with the reading.
A dark cowboy romance in which the two main characters get to know each other through an exchange of mail: he is in prison, and she, a college student, has to write him for a sociology test, but it soon becomes something more personal. They both have secrets, and their love could be their ruin or their salvation, trapped in a Hatfields and McCoys situation.
MCs are complex characters, with a heavy past behind them, and even if they can be considered a little bit problematic the romance works, and it does it really well. There are some imperfections here and there: for instance, I liked the spicy scenes, but sometimes the choice of words was a little bit cringy. However, the story won me over enough to turn a blind eye.
Recommended.
