My (extra)Ordinary Life

This is Rebecca Ryan’s debut book and well you wouldn’t think so. She writes like a seasoned author Emily is very relatable. Without being too obvious she is just your average person. She has an average job and lives what she perceives as a very boring life. I think we have all been there thinking that we should be more than we are. Emily has the added pressure that she believes her twin sister would have had an amazing life had she not passed away when they were 8 years old. Emily’s life list made me laugh so much. The tough mudder scenes were some of my favourites. I had to stop reading to catch my breath because I was giggling so much. This book shows us how grief can keep affecting us even 20 years down the line. My mum passed away when I was 9 years old and even now at 33 grief can, at times, overwhelm me. I completely understand how Emily was feeling with a big anniversary looming and her family dealing with their grief differently to her. It can be easier to bury your head in the sand. This book was laugh out loud funny while also being very poignant. This is a beautiful book about life and grief but peppered with some of the funniest scenes I have ever read. An excellent debut and I cannot wait for more from Rebecca.

Escape to Darling Cove. I can’t think of a better title for this book. I certainly wanted to escape to Ennisfarne and Darling Cove. Holly writes such wonderful and detailed settings they almost become another character. I loved the island’s community spirit and how they quickly adopted Logan as one of their own.Eve Darling is a no-nonsense woman which is something I can wholeheartedly get behind. She is practical and extremely smart. Logan constantly underestimates Eve throughout the book. I did like the shock he got every time Eve outsmarted him.Logan Silk is a man that it’s so darn easy to fall for. Holly writes men that are easy to swoon for and Logan is no exception. He starts of a little grumpy but as he spends more time on the island and unwinds, he becomes the person he really is and not the grumpy man his lift has made him. Logan’s photos sound absolutely amazing from Holly’s descriptions, and I wish there was a way to actually see these. I did like the mention of some of Hollys other characters from past books. It was a great nod to the other books she has written and nice to see how those characters are getting on. I would dearly love for Nick to have his own story someday.I will miss Ennisfarne and their inhabitants but I can’t wait to see what Holly brings us next.Thank you to SJ and the Books and the City team for my copy of this book and for letting me take part in this tour.

This was an excellent story but I do feel like I need one more novella to wrap it all up. Something with ALL the Bridgerton siblings, their husbands or wives and their many many children. I am going to miss this family dearly.

Carla always keeps her books relevant and realistic. There are comments that relate to the current state of the world. I don’t think these are necessarily needed for all books but I think it was a perfect addition to this story.
This is another excellent addition to the series. It is full of tension, suspense and surprise. The story is full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes right until the very end. The book is fast-paced and very easy to become absorbed in. If you love a police procedural with a hint of a psychological thriller then this book and series are perfect for you.
