ARC Review:
If you add a film-production student with her frustrated professor who also happens to be an artist and a secret killer, you would get a bloody disaster, quite literally.
Avina St. Graves has always been my go-to author, and just like every time, she did NOT disappoint at all.
Reina Sinaga & Maddox Shaw start off at the wrong foot. Insulating his art to his face probably wasn't an ideal situation when he was also his professor. Equally dedicated in maintaining the animosity that brewed between them, they both decide to make each other's life difficult as much as they could whenever and wherever.
So when Reina decides to recreate acts of a serial killer in her movies, she had no idea what it would lead to. With a mission of not only following the works of an infamous serial killer, she was also determined to dig into her past connected to the very university she goes to. She is feisty, determined and stubborn. Sometimes frustrating bc what's a serial killer book without frustrating characters. But she is equally overprotective and selfless for Maddox.
Maddox Shaw is a cold, and intimidating fill-in professor who tolerates no BS at all. So when Reina stumbles in his life, she turns his life upside down. He is what you'd call someone's worst nightmare, cold blooded killer with protective instincts only for the love of his life. Proclaims his love for her through grand acts and gentle quiet gestures. But he is hiding a secret - something that could ruin their relationship. So when his position at the University is threatened, he has no choice but to choose between the two.
The author did an amazing job in building the chemistry between them, from deep dislike to banter to the sizzling chemistry – it was perfection! While I saw the plot twist coming, it was overall fun!
